Leadership Embodiment level 1: 12-14 April 2024, Samye Ling

Leadership Embodiment level 1

Accessing resolve and resources at difficult times

12 – 14 April 2024, Samye Ling

Residential

When we’re ‘bent out of shape’ in these unsettled and unsettling times, we can use Leadership Embodiment practices to support us to navigate the world with greater clarity, efficiency and ease. Whether you’re a leader in your organisation, family or community or simply wish to enhance your self-leadership, this workshop offers an approach for cultivating a steadier presence in the push and pull of life.

This level 1 weekend begin on Friday evening, an essential session in which you’ll get a first taste of the foundation practice.  There is time to enjoy being at Samye Ling in the middle of the day on Saturday and we bring things to a close at 4pm on the Sunday. Over the weekend, you’ll gain insight into the habits and patterns that show up when you face unexpected or demanding situations and you’ll experience how to use Leadership Embodiment practices to change your relationship to adversity.

Terms for this weekend are set by Samye Ling – see their website for more information. To make a booking, contact Samye Ling.

In experiencing the power of these practices, a Chief Executive from the NHS said:

I truly found a real strength and energy from learning the connection between mind and body and how to use that energy and focus to cope with everyday situations never mind the stressful ones!’

Leadership Embodiment level 2

Deepening our practice

2 days, £400 – £600 per person

18 & 19 June 2024, Fife

Non-residential

In a ‘level 2’ programme, we explore the edges of our capacity to centre and begin to work with greater intensity, such as using bokkens (Japanese wooden swords) in committing to our purpose, and dealing with multiple, rapid demands. We work with short ‘sitting’ mindfulness practices and continue to refine our foundation centring practice.

This level 2 weekend begins on Friday evening, when we gather and reconnect with the essentials of this work. There is time to enjoy being at Samye Ling in the middle of the day on Saturday and we bring things to a close at 4pm on the Sunday. Over the weekend, you’ll deepen your insight into the habits and patterns that show up when you face unexpected or demanding events and grow your confidence in using the practices in more testing situations.

In experiencing the power of these practices, an experienced facilitator and consultant said:

At the start of level 1, when Amanda said that people often repeat it, I remember thinking ‘why would you want to do that? Surely once is enough to get it’. Having done both the levels, now I get why you repeat it. Every time I’ve engaged with the practices, I’ve deepened my understanding of my patterns and their impact on how I interact with others.

Booking is now open, with early bird prices until 26 April – please contact me to request a booking form.

Leadership Embodiment level 1

  • 30 & 31 January, Edinburgh, non-residential – completed

‘Feeling empowered after attending the Leadership Embodiment workshop, which was in many ways ground-breaking for me!’

‘I gained friendships, personal insights, knowledge, clarity, focus and most of all an acute awareness of what my embodied pattern is. This has been a precious learning as I can now understand it and begin to work with it (while being more compassionate to self!)’

  • 12-14 April , Samye Ling, residential – please see the Samye Ling website for more information

When we’re ‘bent out of shape’ or feel we have limited options, we can use Leadership Embodiment practices to clarify a way forward and to move towards it with skill and assurance. In a ‘level 1’ the workshop, we become more aware of the role of our body and posture at times when we lose our effectiveness and/or composure. Using a four-part embodied practice we experience how we can access greater agency when the chips are down.

Terms for this weekend are set by Samye Ling – to make a booking, please contact Samye Ling.

Special event – Leadership Embodiment retreat with Tiphani Palmer

A Leadership Embodiment retreat is an intensive opportunity to explore our practice. You must have completed both Leadership Embodiment level 1 and level 2 to participate. Please see the Leadership Embodiment website for more information and to make a booking.

Community of practice – keeping in touch days

During 2024, there will be four ‘keeping in touch’ days for those who’ve completed at least a Leadership Embodiment ‘level 1’ course with me or with another Leadership Embodiment teacher. The days are offered in the spirit of practising LE together and providing an opportunity to deepen our practice. With this in mind, I’m taking a not-for-profit approach to these days inviting payment ‘by donation’. The dates are in early January, April, July and October.

‘What an amazing group – learning, working with and embodying some powerful concepts, emotions and qualities.’
