Leadership Embodiment level 2
Deepening our practice
27 – 29 October 2023, Samye Ling
Residential
In a ‘level 2’ programme, we explore the edges of our capacity to centre and begin to work with greater intensity, such as using bokkens (Japanese wooden swords) in committing to our purpose, and dealing with multiple, rapid demands. We work with short ‘sitting’ mindfulness practices and continue to refine our foundation centring practice.
Terms for this weekend are set by Samye Ling. For more information and to make a booking, please contact Samye Ling.
In experiencing the power of these practices, an experienced facilitator and consultant said:
‘At the start of level 1, when Amanda said that people often repeat it, I remember thinking ‘why would you want to do that? Surely once is enough to get it’. Having done both the levels, now I get why you repeat it. Every time I’ve engaged with the practices, I’ve deepened my understanding of my patterns and their impact on how I interact with others.’
Leadership Embodiment level 1
Practices for difficult times
2 days, £400 – £600 per person
30 & 31 January 2024, Edinburgh
Non-residential
When we’re ‘bent out of shape’ or feel we have limited options, we can use Leadership Embodiment practices to clarify a way forward and to move towards it with assurance. Whether you’re a leader in your organisation, family or community or simply wish to enhance your self-leadership, this workshop offers a fresh approach to navigating the challenges you face.
Developed by the late Wendy Palmer, Leadership Embodiment draws on principles from martial arts and mindfulness to reveal how we’re affected by unexpected or adverse events and to offer a way of regrouping so that we can act with greater agency and influence when the chips are down. During the workshop, we’ll become more aware of what happens in our body in moments of stress, challenge and pressure and explore how this shapes what we say and do. In a variety of scenarios, we’ll use a four-part embodied practice to regain composure and access resources that enable us to skilfully handle whatever is thrown at us.
Over two days, you’ll gain insight into the habits and patterns that limit your impact and you’ll experience ways in which you can accomplish more with greater ease.
In experiencing the power of these practices, a CEO from an online business said:
‘In a changing business environment, this workshop supported me to develop a revised role and discover a renewed sense of purpose. When faced with important decisions, I’m practising keeping an open mind and sensing the right path – this feels like an important part of my leadership role. In addition, in my daily activity I find myself noticing my how my reactive pattern gets in the way – there is more work to do to catch it in the moment!’

Community of practice – keeping in touch days
During 2024, there will be four ‘keeping in touch’ days for those who’ve completed at least a Leadership Embodiment ‘level 1’ course with me or with another Leadership Embodiment teacher. The days are offered in the spirit of practising LE together and providing an opportunity to deepen our practice. With this in mind, I’m taking a not-for-profit approach to these days inviting payment ‘by donation’. The dates are in early January, April, July and October.
‘What an amazing group – learning, working with and embodying some powerful concepts, emotions and qualities.’
